    Walton, known to all his friends as Sonny went SK on November 3rd at the age of 80. He was a friend and elmer to many, including me.

    Obituary
    Walton Reichard "Sonny" Hood, 80, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away on November 3, 2019.

    Born in Norfolk, VA, he grew up in Brentwood in Chesapeake. He is the son of the late James W. Hood and Mary V. Hood. He is preceded in death by his son, Warren R. Hood.

    He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Linda S. Hood. A daughter and son in law, Nicole and Ricardo Jones, and two granddaughters, Reilly and Eryn, all of Chesapeake. He is also survived by older sister Claudia H. Bradshaw of Malvern, PA, her husband Thomas Bradshaw and several nieces and nephews.

    Sonny was a 1958 graduate of Cradock High School and a 1962 VMI alumni. He had previously worked as a planner/estimator with HRSD, City of Chesapeake Utilities, Inner-View Construction, PreCon, and Tri-State Utilities.

    He was an avid amateur radio operator licensed in 1957. He was a member of the QCWA club and founding member of Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service. Over the years, he was former member/officer of Coast Guard Auxiliary 58. Former member/officer of Norfolk County Rifle Range. Former member of Moose Lodge 898.

    The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, 1144 George Washington Hwy., North, on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com
