On July 4, 2026, the United States will Commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honoring the Men and Women who won America, and looking ahead toward the future we want to create for ourselves, the next generation, and beyond.

To that end, you are cordially invited to participate in the upcoming Kilo 4 America (K4A) Special Event, the “Launch Edition” of America’s approaching Semiquincentennial Celebration.

The Semiquincentennial, or “Semiquin" for short, is a little more than two years away, but we aren't waiting until the last minute to celebrate this milestone.

This year's K4A "Launch Edition” event will operate July 1-7, 2024 with SSB, CW, and Digital activations planned.

In 2025 and 2026, K4A will expand to a two week events with additional bands/modes, some fun challenges and awards from supporting Donors/Vendors.

Shout out to the American Legion Amateur Operators plus select Net Controllers who have enthusiastically Volunteered to serve as K4A NCS's.

NCS's have been strategically selected across the United States including Alaska to - still working on Hawaii.

Volunteer NCS’s have already answered the call within the past year with these completed Revolutionary War Battlefield K4x Special Events:

    • K4M - Battle of Kings Mountain
    • K4C - Battle of Cowpens
    • KKB - Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge
    • K4G - Battle of Guilford Courthouse
    …and new for 2024:
    • K4L - Battle of Musgrove Mill - August 17-19 (followed by K4M - Battle of Kings Mountain October 1-7)
    • K4Y - Battle of Yorktown - October 17-20
The 2023 K4M and 2024 K4C, K4B, and K4G QRZ pages gratefully remain viewable - check ‘em out to get a feel for our mission of "Keeping America's Stories Alive” through Amateur Radio.

Historical content is offered within each K4x Special Event's QRZ Page emphasizing facts before and after each event ranging from words on parchment and the hard fought battles that sealed those words with victory.

We are off to a great start with the Battlefield events but only getting started.

Stay tuned for additional announcements to include a "go live" announcement for the future K4A America 250 website currently under construction:

Additionally, a companion website is underway promoting the K4x Series of Revolutionary War Battles plus other history-related commemorative events.

Funding for these ventures is strictly via donations right down to the SASE QSL Card requests…all that is required is your Participation which helps immensely with Grant requests to State & Federal Grantors and all important Foundations.

If you feel what we are doing is important, individual donations are appreciated which funds our commitment “Every Participant Desiring a QSL Card, Gets One.”

Here is the K4A QSL Card printed by QSL Works:

Keep checking the K4A QRZ page for updates as we near the event for updates...getting ready to post a couple John Wayne narrations there to set the mood.

Starting July 1st, K4A Activations will be listed under the ON-AIR flashing sign appearing at the top of the K4A QRZ page and DXSummit cluster spots containing frequency and mode detail.

As always, constructive questions, comments or suggestions are welcome, post here or email

On behalf of our Volunteers, Partners, we offer to YOU a hearty: Hip Hip HUZZA!!!

    Looking forward to this.

Always enjoy the King's Mountain event. I have modeled my own Civil War related Special Events on Marc's K4M events. Very informative and fun.

Can you quote even a single sentence of the Declaration of Independence?

Paul Harvey declares in the video linked below "from henceforth you will always be able to quote at least one line" here:

"We mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.”

Watch here to learn of the fate that awaited those brave Signers:

These "Best Men from Each of the Colonies" were so gratefully willing to trade security in the pursuit of LIBERTY! - HUZZA!!!

Harvey includes Edmund Burke's most excellent quote about society:
"A partnership between the living and the dead, and the yet unborn."

Gotta say would love to QSO but expecting massive pileups from stations with more "presence" than I can churn up.

I expressed some doubt that my meager setup could get a chance to work K4A but Mark, W4OVT, contacted me and we worked on 40 SSB with no problem despite lousy daytime condx. So I want to thank him going out his way to improve my confidence with this station and will eagerly be looking forward to working the special event station when it is up! Thanks!!!

It was great to work you on 40m today confirming your signal is well heard in NC.

And thank you for sharing the special callsign prefix the FCC authorized for the Bicentennial in 1976.

    This was the announcement:

This was done again in 1987 when the "200" was used in place of district numbers for the many stations that celebrated the U.S. Constitution Bicentennial.

Will the FCC do this again for 2026 Semiquin Commemoration?

Time will tell along with an expected US Postal Commemorative Stamp.

    Good stuff, thanks again Tom!

I was able to log at least two of these. I look forward to supporting history being remembered.

From birth until I, myself, enlisted, grew up in the military. Over a period of over 25 years I travelled a lot. I saw a lot of historical places; military history being of particular interest to me from a young age. I greatly appreciate these special events along with those who honor our military veterans and as every country should respectfully do. Too much history has been cancelled from learning institutions. Too many stories will be lost, unless we keep them alive. Thank you!
