    Richard A. "Dick" Austin, 85 passed away Saturday February 29, 2020 at the Port St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, FL. Born in Norwood, MA April 15, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert A. Austin and Evelyn (Parmenter) Austin. Dick was a graduate of the University of Vermont, receiving his engineering degree and was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean War. He owned and operated Austin Antenna Company and Pilot Engineering. He worked for Hamilton Standard and consulted with Lockheed Martin. He was a licensed pilot, an outstanding Jazz Guitarist, a Shriner and Mason, an inventor and held many patents. He leaves his wife Mary Ann (Phoenix) Austin, his children Robin Alexander of Coffeeville, AL, Richard Austin of West Springfield, Randall and Madelyn Austin of Montgomery, and Alexandria M.I. Lyne of West Springfield, 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Calling hours will be held Friday March 6 at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home 1043 Westfield St. West Springfield from 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrier Project 4899 Belfort Rd. Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256.
