    Historically - gone but not forgotten: bomebrew two transistor 40M transmitter > HW-7 > Argonaut 509 > HW-8 > homebrew one tube 40M transmitter > Argonaut 505

Present - five (yes, five) HW-8 transceivers - the only rigs I own. Four are fully functional; one is the parts department.

100% QRP and 100% CW. Unashamedly dinosauric.

Apparently I’m the only dumbass who didn’t order the WARC band option along with HW-9. :(

I can’t forgive myself, tho. I never could have imagined that 35 years later my favorite band would be 30m. Lol!

    My times have changed!
We had a Heath store here on the North Side of Columbus.
Fascinating times to be a 20 something know it all kid...
I was a fledgling TV electronics tech. My boss and mentor at the time was a prior Marine Corps helicopter electrician.
He built the popular bench digi volt-ohm meter, a VTVM and that big stereo rx and amp. He loved his Heaths!

I started QRPing in 1998....currently I am using a K2, four band K1 (I built in 2002), Hilltopper 20, Hilltopper 40 (From four states qrp group), Norcal 40A (I built in 1998), Norcal 20, and HW-8 (not built by me in 1979). I also have a drawer or two full of Pixies, Tuna Tins, and various other monobanders including a Norcal SMT-1 (surface moount 40m transceiver).

    I have had Ten Tec Scout, Hw-7 (2), HW-8 (3 - sold 2 now have 1), complete HW-9 stations (twice, with WARC), OHR 400, OHR 100, PFR-3, KX-1 (twice)

I regret ever selling any of those radios.

My ATS3b has about 8k QSOs and 165 DX entities. It's going in the coffin with me.
