Thanks for the latest release of Logger's Bark. Most important to me in this edition is the W7DK Field Day 2024 on page 44 to 45. This is not only a field day, its much more. It shows a how to organize a communication place in case of a disaster. This can be a part of a disaster control camp, when its on work in the fields. Great job and an example for how to do the right things when much went wrong. Many groups tried, but they often didnt found the right way to organize and got lost in triviality and high-tech junk. Who got problems with the PDFs and Windows, just use the Xreader or Okular with Linux.
FD on the cover-- a week after the event! Amazing....! FD was definitely a prepper event for me this year. Generator power used only. 500 CW q's in 3 hours.
I am guessing that the "mystery member" is Dave's daughter. Since I am a long way from Tacoma, I have to guess who it is, lol.
Well, that would be a good guess. But alas, not correct. The "Mystery Member" is always a ham, and always a current member of the club. Very cool that you gave it a go though!! Dave W7UUU
I'm still searching for the mystery word, but I did notice what I think is a typo on page 72 where it says "John N7TES operates his ELecraft KX3..." but the radio shown is much too big to be a KX3 and my guess is that it is a K3. Dave (G0DJA)
Good catch and you're correct! I will post an errata in the first post and also in the August Bark. It's just me on the "Editorial Staff" - I write most of it and format/edit all of it (my lovely wife Anne N7ANN is my Proofreader Extraordinaire) and she and I each read the entire thing together - her on her laptop and me at my editing desk, every single word, three times over. But something always slips through. She would not have caught the radio goof - that one's entirely on me. N7TES is super cool - the only POTA ham I've ever known to take a K3 out on POTA days. Very cool Thanks again for the eagle eye catch! And for reading The Bark! Dave W7UUU
Hey! That's me! It was a pleasure with the Radio Club Of Tacoma, I can't wait to participate in more events!
And thanks for attending! You were there a long time - that was awesome. You and Nathan made for a really nice cover shot! I kinda knew it would be the cover when I took it... I was still entertaining a few other areas around the site, but had a pretty good hunch this would be the cover shot Dave W7UUU
