    November 10, 1920 - January 02, 2019
    Joseph Jones, 98, passed away on January 2, 2019. A resident of Justus, PA, for over 60 years, he and his wife retired to Windjammer Village, Little River, SC, where they resided for another 30 years. Born in Liverpool, England, in 1920, Joe was the son of the late Winifred and John Owen Jones, Justus.

    Joe was a graduate of Scott High School in Montdale and the American Television Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois. He was a broadcast engineer for WGBI Radio and WDAU-TV, Scranton. He was a member of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians, a member of the North Myrtle Beach Amateur Radio Club and a founding member of the Clarks Summit Amateur Radio Club.

    During World War II Joe served five years in the army with the 109th Infantry, Company B and also the 63rd signal battalion. He served with the 63rdthrough North Africa, Sicily, the Italian campaigns, attached to the British army under Field Marshall Montgomery as they pursued “Desert Fox” Rommel in North Africa.

    In South Carolina Joe was a founding member of Bible Fellowship Baptist Church where he served on various committees, sang in the choir, and led worship on Sunday mornings.

    His wife, Annette Evans Jones, passed away on July 5, 2009. Surviving are three daughters: Jo Ann Walczak, Justus; Sally Corrigan and husband Robert, Carbondale; and Nancy Reichert and husband Scott, Sparrowbush, New York. Also, surviving are four grandsons: Bryan Walczak and wife Janine, Elkhart, Indiana; Trevor Walczak and wife Casie, Greenfield Township, PA; Zachary Reichert, Arlington, Virginia, and Garrett Reichert, Sparrowbush, New York. One granddaughter, Shayna Reichert, Camp Hill, and her fiancé Michael Mark. Step-grandchildren include Amy, Timothy, and Gregory Corrigan, and Caitlin Byrne.

    Joe had three great-grandsons: Wyatt, Maverick, and Benjamin Walczak, and three great-granddaughters: Anna, Claire, and Kassadee Walczak. Step-greatgrandchildren: Brittany Sanderson and Haleigh Corrigan.

    A viewing will take place on Saturday, January 5, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Mt. Bethel Baptist, 1341 Layton Road, Scott Township, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am by pastors of the Parker Hill Community Church which Joe attended locally and the pastor of his church in South Carolina. Interment will follow the service at Valley View Memorial Cemetery in Montdale. Arrangements are being made through Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home in Clarks Summit.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mount Bethel Baptist Church, 1341 Layton Road, Scott Township, PA, or to Bible Fellowship Baptist Church, Box 462 State Highway 57 S., P.O. Box 119, Little River, SC 29566.

    The family’s gratitude is extended to Traditional Home Hospice nurses, social workers, and personnel who worked lovingly with Joe for two years. Thanks also to our friends who have cared for him and his family.
