    PITTSFIELD - Jeffrey W. Carmel, 59, of Partridge Rd., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center of heart attack. He was surrounded by his family.

    He was born May 11, 1958 in Pittsfield the son of Ed Richard Carmel and Shirley T. Keefe and was a 1976 graduate of Taconic High School.

    Jeffrey was employed as a mechanical technician and Ken's Bowl for over 20 years, prior to his employment there he worked at Berkshire Tire, Dickson's Auto Parts and Rices Silk Mill. He attended the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield.

    Jeff's was an accomplished musician, playing the trumpet, tuba, trombone, guitar, bass and also composing music. He played in several bands including Nightshade, Al Carson Band, Ovation and sat side by side with his father in the Pittsfield Eagles Band, as well as being a member of his father's band The Carlins Orchestra. He was also a skilled Ham radio operator, restored Antique radios and was a member of the American Radio Relay League.

    Jeff is survived by his longtime companion, Deborah Davis, his son Jeffrey Carmel Jr. and his companion Jennifer Baran of Pittsfield, grandchildren Brendan, Auden and Xavier, sister Alison Phillips and her husband William of Pittsfield, brother Stephen Carmel and his wife Jo-Anne of Jamesville, NY.

    FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Jeffrey W. Carmel will be held Tuesday, July 11 at 11AM at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Sheila Sholes-Ross, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, July 10 from 4-7PM at the funeral home.

    Donations in his memory may be made to the Eagles Band in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
