An 81-year-old man was found dead in a Dix Hills home Friday afternoon, Suffolk County police confirmed.
    .
Suffolk County police arrive at 48 Ormond St. in Dix Hills on Friday after an 81-year-old man was found dead in his home.
Jack Rucker was discovered at 48 Ormond St. soon after his neighbor, Amit Beria, was asked to check on Rucker by one of Rucker’s sons, Bill, who lives out of state and hadn’t heard from his father in two days.
Beria began knocking on Rucker’s front and then back doors, he said.
“I started yelling, ‘Jack! Jack!’ but nobody answered,” Beria, who lives one house over, said.
Beria then contacted authorities, who arrived on the scene soon after.
Suffolk County police officers at the scene on March 27 said that it was difficult to walk around inside of the home due to an apparent hoarding situation. As a result of this, responders were forced to cut a hole in the back of the house to remove Rucker’s body. Suffolk County police officers, Huntington Public Safety officials, the Suffolk County Medical Examiner and Suffolk County Emergency Service officers assisted in removing Rucker from the home.
Suffolk County police said there is no criminal activity suspected in Rucker’s death.
An independent man, Beria said of Rucker, the two had lived next to each other for the last eight years.
“Jack told me he was a mountain climber and that he traveled the world,” Beria said. “The man lived. Not going to have Jack around is going to be [sad]. He was a great guy.”
