Yep - HR-1680 receiver - the mate for the much more rare HX-1681 transmitter

just out of curiosity, do prop guys just grab something with lots of knobs to fill in a
shot? there was radio in the film, but it was truck-mounted and headphone/mikes.

if i had that job i'd be better in tune (no pun) with the story line.

Sure - 99.999% of the viewing audience will neither care nor even notice what the prop is supposed to be. It's just a "box with knobs that looks technical" to the vast majority of folks watching the show. The art director just wandered the myriad shelves in the props warehouse looking for bits and pieces that would look right on the set. The HR-1680 I'm sure popped out as looking "just about right" :)

Not unusual for a ham or hams to be working on films, and contribute to the prop dep't.

Lots of films show receivers being used to transmit (!) and radios of various sorts being used in full duplex operation, where another operator can interrupt the first operator mid-word.:)

    Creative license abounds.:p
