@W8QB On the IC-7610 group mailing list, over two dozen users have reported the heat sink falling off or loose on their IC-7610. One report today was from a unit delivered 5/19.

** crickets ** It seems Ron's observation re the group mailing list put this one month old thread to rest.

Yeah over two dozen, most of which were lose when the bottom panel was removed, out of what, ten thousand radios sold? If you leave the panel alone, it holds the heat sink in place. Similarly, no modification of the preamp circuit is required to try to achieve a stated parameter. Chirp Chirp...:D

Just to keep things based in reality, the estimated number of IC-7610 sales in the US, Canada and Europe is estimated to be just over 3000 units.

Wow, really? Where did this data come from? Per year, or for all time?

Rob Sherwood took a serial number poll on the IC-7610 group. About 2000 units in the US/Canada and 1000 in Europe.

The IC-7610 has only been on the market since December, so all time.

Well, that's way more than I expected. Well done, Icom!

Icom has sold well over 10,000 IC-7300s in the US alone, but sure not hard to understand why. At current street prices between $1000 and $1200, the 7300 is an amazing value as well as an amazing performer, in the top 20 on the Sherwood List of outstanding receivers and has one of the best sounding transmitters (tx audio) currently available even with the factory hand mic.

I wonder how many in this thread can actually make use of all the features of the current crop of high end radios? The specs on Sherwood can tell you a lot but how many can use the radios to their full potential?
Full disclosure, I run a Flex 5k and the software is still being upgraded (3rd party) and it gets better every time. How many knobbed radios of the vintage are being improved? Oh, the WinX problems are easily solved by not going beyond
Win7 unless you happen to fall into the "latest and greatest" lemming pool and then it's on you.
