I was listening to a 40m QSO the other day about how ham radio was affecting their marriages. One of the hams said his wife disliked the hobby and the time he spent on it. So he divorced her! While this is a little extreme I would venture to say we all have had moments of displeasure from our spouses concerning the amount of time we spend on the radio.... Bottom Line: Find a happy medium and a spouse who is happy to see the enjoyment you receive from the hobby...….
Good advice. It’s clear that there are some who sadly either have no life beyond the hobby or who’s life choices revolve around it.
Shoot, My wife pushes me toward the radio room to get me out of her hair. She has her hobbies and I have mine neither of which either one enjoys the others. Of course living on the farm sometimes there isn't enough time for either of us to enjoy our hobbies. Bob
Happily single for 23 years,and I would not even marry that kind of woman who would get that jealous of my hobby.
Mine is very happy with my hobby. She knows where I'm at all times. And now that I'm mostly on digital modes, no complaints about the noise when I operate at night.
