    Irvin "Irv" P. Langel, 90, of Plains Twp., passed into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Timber Ridge Healthcare Center, Wilkes-Barre.

    Irvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Bernice Greboniski Langel. Irvin was the last surviving sibling of 10 children of the late George and Sophie Petroski Langel of North Wilkes-Barre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, brothers, George, John, Andrew, Michael, Charles, Edward, Ernest, Jerome; and sister, Dolores Langel Lulis.

    Irvin was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1945. Prior to graduation, Irvin enlisted in the U.S. Navy and after graduation served as Radioman Third Class in the Philippine Islands and Guam. Irvin was a proud patriot and U.S. Navy Veteran. From 1949 to 1972 he was employed by the Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station at the Veterans Administration building downtown Wilkes-Barre, receiving many awards and commendations.

    Later, he owned and operated Langel Auto Tags in Plains Twp. with his wife Bernice for many years. Irvin was one of the founders and a Charter Member of the Cross Valley Federal Credit Union. His hobby was ham radio and was licensed by the FCC as an Amateur Radio Operator.

    Irvin is survived by his two daughters, Linda Drako and her husband, Joseph, Plains Twp.; Barbara Feinblatt and her husband, Stuart, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Eric Drako and his wife, Erica; and Lindsey Urban and her husband, Joe. Irvin also leaves behind his best friend of 85 years since kindergarten, Dr. Lawrence "Larry" Istvan, Kingston. We are grateful to Larry and know he will miss his friend immeasurably.

    Friends and family may visit from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul's Church, Plains Twp. Irvin will be laid to rest next to his wife Bernice in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
