I've read the manual on the IC-7300 that the IP+ function can improve distortion with presence of a strong and weak signal. However, I've never actually noticed a difference when toggling this. Does anyone see an improvement with IP+ and in what (practical) situation does it improve? Does it hurt to leave it on when such conditions do not exist?

Yes it hurts weak signal reception to leave it on by raising the noise floor.

True, it degrades RX noise floor but even then, it may still be much lower than the noise power from the antenna.
Especially on the LF bands and so for most, the degradation is un-noticeable.

I can't tell a difference if it's on or off. All for every possible feature, but haven't seen a situation where it helped. Will continue trying to use it and see if anything happens, but leave it off by default. YMMV - just my $.02
