I take you step by step on how too install Aredn on MikroTik hAP AL Lite and I show you where to get the latest firmware. Over all, this wasn't a easiest process but can be down. You don't have to be IT tech wizard. I hope I break it down for most of us to understand.

All fine and good but if your not in a network rich enviro it is pretty pointless. Haven't found anyone clubwise who show interest. I doubt its a build it and they will come.

I like the concept but it has been years and little progress. Bitcoin boys went crazy with it for a while but then it died.

I deal with the MikroTik at work on a weekly basis, and after having to replace hundreds of managed wifi units for customers, I can safely say that it is a massive piece of $hit. I wouldn't use, buy, sell, or rely on a MikroTik BECAUSE of its fragility and the ease with which they can be damaged by relatively minor environmental factors.

    Hard pass.

I'm guessing the quality of MikroTik gear has gone down in the past few years? My last experiences with their hardware were 2012-2015 time frame. Had one of these https://mikrotik.com/product/RBMetal2SHPn that survived for 5 years through some brutal Texas weather. Was still working when it was removed from service.

My cohorts and I use MikroTik gear indoors on a regular basis and it is very reliable. I just replaced my RB-951 router after maybe 10+ years simply because I wanted newer Wi-Fi, so I got the HAP-ax3 which finally reached the US. Their high end routers and switches also have worked well in our experience.

Outdoors, though, they play to the low end. Not bad for the money but not well suited to the US market.

The HAP ax3 is nice, but ROS 7 is somewhat different from the version I was used to, and it is not exactly designed for casual users. Still, there is a lot of spare horsepower in it. I don't do AREDN but there are probably other things that could go into it without disturbing the regular functions.
