I understand that Ham operators like to do a contest.
But there are to many these days.
    And always in the weekend.
There are many operators working in the weekdays...hey... ;)
For those operators its not possible anymore to make an normal QSO anymore in the weekend.
Look at the bands right now.... its overfilled with screaming contest stations.
No normal QSO is possible in the weekend anymore.
And if the Contest is over, you dont see those stations again.....

    And for an example....
Last week was the Jambory weekend, Jota, Youth on the air.
But Germany starts an German Contest, over this nice Jota weekend.
    I don't understand it anymore.
Its more important to get points, but, to communicate with Youth doesnt count
    Thats just my 2 cents........

I like these contests because I can test the range of my latest setup.

CQWW is a great way to test directional antennas simply because stations are coming In from every direction.

Fun and the CME held off wrecking the bands. I worked just 8 hrs 22 min 10 meters only SOHPA. Got a decent score even though I forgot that in good propagation there are a lot of stations to be worked above 28650. I was S & P only 500 watts to a vertical and worked 28 zones and 75 countries. Fun!

Can we say that the CQWW is a world championship? Or is it an Olympics for radio amateurs?

I had a blast Saturday working the contest on 10m. Solid dx from 28.300 to 28.900. Everything from the Caribbean, to Europe, and Australia. Worked everything I could hear with 100w and my Butternut vertical.

You must have missed the rest of the band...all the way through the am window up to 29.300 was full of ssb signals.

While I don't participate in the contest, it IS a great way to get some new DXCC countries. 7 over the weekend in just a couple of hours (spread out through the contest).

It's amazing how many people attempting to run a frequency have absolutely awful quality recorded CQ calls. It still mystifies me that some operators care so little about what they sound like, live or recorded.

    Nearly missed it.
    Tons/Kilos of fun!

I have to give credit to all the exhausted contest operators.
    They probably double as auctioneers!

    Well done.
