Both operators logged over 6,000 QSOs in a full 36-hour effort, with the final result decided by a combination of QSO volume, multiplier strategy, and band-by-band execution. Behind the numbers, however, were a series of real-world challenges and decisions that influenced the outcome—including antenna issues, amplifier failures, propagation differences between locations, and the strategic use of limited operating time. Based on their published 3830 reports and follow-up commentary, this article takes a closer look at how the contest unfolded from each operator’s perspective.
