I'd like to find out what the original sale price was in for the TH-78A in the early/mid 90's, or better yet the MSRP when these HT's first came out. 1992? 94?

Old back issues of CQ, QRZ etc just might have prices listed (before the "Internet Mystery Price" which became the standard sales tactic once the Web got to be the standard sales medium.

I remember my old TH-79 was somewhere around $475 new, but I just can't remember what the dash 78A went for......

If somebody could scrounge up an original receipt for their TH-78A (in an insurance file maybe) that would be ideal!

I'd really appreciate any info on this!

In the eHam reviews, it says it has an MSRP of $330. No telling when that is from. It shows it is still in production(?).
The reviews date back to Feb 2002.
Maybe someone here will know for sure but I'd bet there is a usergroup for that radio and someone there would know for sure.

EHam- I should have thought about that!

Having used them for two decades I think that the Kenwood HT's of that "Era" (TH-28/48/42/78/79) were the best designed on Earth.

They were $499 new back in the day.
