    And you'd need a drill bit 8,000 miles long that could withstand the temperature variations of molten iron at 7,000-12,000F.

    Valid excuse. For years a ham that drove a BMW 3 series convertible, he drilled the hole in his trunk lid. He always had a great signal.

    So did mine.
    It didn't matter where you were in the world, if you dug a hole deep enough you would end up in China.

    That's why in the past I've purchased retired police cars. Lot's of already drilled antenna holes in the right places, plus they always leave that cool A-pillar spotlight thingy!

    A few nights ago I saw the same thing into S. Tx. They were booming in across the N. pole. Almost nobody else in the lower 48 seemed to be listening in that direction. It did take a bit of power (150-200W) for them to hear me, though.
