LOL...I thought the same thing, but it's not as "bad". Actually, I have not had problems with LOTW, ever. The easiest one was eQSL's AG, using LOTW's "credentials".
Here's a tip: If you have Ghostery running, turn it off temporarily because it may interfere with the last few steps of the certificate examination and authorization process on the browser.
I also turned off tw0-factor. It was getting to be a major nuisance being asked to enter the code when I'm on my iPad or laptop somewhere, when the iPhone where the code is sent is at the other end of the house and turned off. And turning off two-factor killed the "Verified" as well. FWIW I was never able to get the Verified to work using Certificates. I ended up sending in a photo of my drivers license, with all of the personal information blacked out except my photo and address, and they accepted that.
MAJOR nuisance................? I had to update my security code last week. First time in about a month.
I've found the best solution..... 1. Don't use 2FA 2. Trash LoTW 3. Don't buy and sell on the Zed I can live with all of the above.
