    I've heard of a few hams that devised their own footswitches for mobile ops. It can be done. Here's one Motorola makes for mobile operation:

    For motorcycle mobile ops, a momentary switch near the left grip. Did that on a few of my off-road bikes. Didn't bother with radio on the street bikes...

    Not sure what the benefit is. Blocking one ear, another cable to get tangled. Is it safer or just satisfying legal requirements like the hands free rules on phones that do nothing to make a cell phone call safer
