Does anybody have the slightest idea when this piece might become available????

Icom will likely Take Orders from their Global Distributors/Dealers at Ham Fair in October.
Traditional ICOM Timeline (and Big 3), is “First Showing” at JARL Ham Fair in Tokyo.
The Fair is Later in 2021 (not September), likely due to Olympics and COVID scheduling.
Typical Attendance is 40,000 people. 42,000 attended the 2019 Ham Fair.
JARL Ham Fair 2021
Tokyo Big Sight
October 2 and 3, 2021
North American Availability DEPENDS on Icom filing of FCC Paperwork and Testing for Import.
The EARLIEST would be First Quarter 2022, HOWEVER COVID-19 has disrupted BOTH Logistics and Electronics Manufacturing —- SO it could be LATER.
SUGGEST … IF You Desire One, Contact your Favorite Icom Dealer,
to Be Placed on Their List.
WOW ! That is a good question. It's been so long since the first word of this amp was brought to our attention, I actually forgot all about it.
My guess is it will be released as soon as the Kenwood TL933 come out. Hi Hi
http://www.hampedia.net/power_amplifiers/kenwood/ ......and you all thought I was joking? How many of you remember that amp?
OK for the facts
It's already been stated by Icom America (on a virtual hamfest) that this is a very low priority product/ after all the issues the issues with CV19 and semiconductors.
I would not expect to see it until the end of 2022 and only if things get better.
The K0UO " Rhombic Antenna Farm" 2 miles of wire in the Air & On the daily
$7k. WOW! I guess I won't be obtaining that amp no matter WHEN it comes out!
The Elecraft KPA-1500-F is currently $ 6,195.95 (with FREE Shipping in August)
Jim, W6PQL …. 1 kW HF+6m amplifier (retired HP engineer, designed 2016-2017)
Jim can supply Modules & Parts for Builders
He does Build the VHF/UHF amplifiers, BUT those cost $2650 to $3000 depending on options, WITHOUT the High Amperage 48-50 Volt Power Supply.
SO2R sets it slightly apart from other 1kW linears. Anyway it seems cheaper to buy one individual tube amp for every single radio in an average shack. With split antennas and appropriate filters one could invite friends to work in multi operator multi radio category for the same money.

Contact Bill, N4ATS , if you desire a built Mercury III amplifier
I bought the Mercury IIIS for use with my Icom IC-7300 and couldn't be happier. It has every feature promised by this ICOM amplifier, and more, plus it's only $2500. I can't believe that Elecraft gets over 6 grand!
I've been watching the Mercury since it came out looks like a great amplifier/ the only thing it is lacking is a good automatic antenna tuner like the Icoms that had for years
I hope to work you on the Air.
