Wanted to see if anyone here has experience with these.
I just picked one up on QRZ that has low output on UHF, I knew this when I bought it (and the price was very reasonable) and didn't mind since I'm using it as a hotspot radio that doesn't need high power. It's otherwise in great shape.
That said I'm still looking at the feasibility of repairing it. I have the service manual and looking at the TX circuit I see it has one final for both bands. It has full output on VHF so that tells me the final is ok. There are separate filter networks for each band between the final and antenna and I'm assuming the issue is in there someplace. Accessing the RF board is not a simple affair so I don't want to mess with it until I have a better idea of what I'm looking at.
I know Icom doesn't support these any more and even if they did it probably wouldn't be worth the cost to have them fix it. So, anybody with first-hand info or tips?
