I have enjoyed my '706 on HF for several years, but used an IC-V8 HT and Yaesu FT-1500M for 2 meters. Now I find neither 2m radio is immediately available for VHF and must use the '706 instead. Does anyone know of (or better, has taught) a class / instruction on setting up a '706 for 2m? Or would someone be willing to coach me on a general run-down / checklist for such operation? Thanks in advance! - Bill, WB6FTI/7

Bill, did you get it working on 2m? I don't find this radio very intuitive so I can see why you'd have trouble. I just recently got my outdoor 2m antenna up and figured out how to program it for repeaters so hit me up if you want me to walk you though it. Matt, W6MCP

    Hi Bill.

I got one of the early MKIIGs and for years primarily used it on 2. Long story, but I was stuck with attic antennas mostly for 6 & 10.

Although a little tough to program for FM at first, once you get it set up for the local repeaters and simplex frequencies it makes a reasonable showing of itself.

Weak signal modes and digital on 2 are icing on the cake!

    73 and have fun!
