Hi this is Frank, today we are going to make DX contacts in Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy, France and Brazil with the IC-705 at 10 watts, using a 16 feet vertical antenna, 3 radials and no tuner. The location is the Massawippi Trails in Quebec, a beautiful elevated location with a low noise floor, perfect to do radio. So sit back, relax, let’s make some DX contacts!

Low noise floor ! Goes green with envy - mine is usually S 5-9 depending on conditions and time of the day :-( .

Yeah me too, at home noise can be S9, this is why I enjoy portable activities, I can make 10W clean contacts where at home I would barely be able to hear them.

Helps that PV8AL is in Roraima, closest brazilian point to you, owning a huuuuge antenna?

My noise floor can be up to S7 some time. Mainly in the summer months When I am lucky is a S 3-4

Those "big gun" antennas are so amazing, they allow smaller stations to make great contacts.

Yep... done all that and more with 6 watts and a FT-818 SSB... strand of wire and some radials. All those and add Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Norway... gosh I should make videos.

That is very good, congratulations! :)
Make videos... yes those are great to share and motivate others to go outside of the shack and enjoy the very low noise floor!

    Hello,

    Congratulations…..good DX contacts!
Couldn’t help but notice that your band scope display looked a lot more impressive than what I see on my ICOM-7300…don’t know why.
