and my answer to it was...............
WAIT FOR IT......................
SX-88 or IC-7610....Agonizing decision.
When I saw that title, I was expecting UFO pictures...
I'd opt for the SX-88.
Never had one, never really thought about it, but it would be fun to own.
The difference, to me, is the 88 is an "investment." Buy it, use it, keep it working properly, and later it will be worth just as much or more. After 20-30 years, possibly a lot more.
The 7610 begins depreciating the moment you leave the store.
are you really offering the benefits of amateur radios as an "investment opportunity" to pat?
obviously he is aware of the rapid gains in value of amateur radio gear
I thought this was going to be a thread of the COVETED SX-88.
Unless you're a high-end contester, I don't see the need for owning one of these; for general usage, how much of an improvement in receiving quality/capability would you see in this over, say, an IC-7300?
Well, I haven't had a 7300 on my bench for comparison but the new 7610 is amazing. Unfortunately, my noise floor is really bad here. This radio does a great job of finding the signal in the muck.
Please notice the "smoke" and "mirrors" knobs. That must be for contest stuff. Is the TV in the center SD or HD? All I see are mountains. And most importantly: Where is the unboxing video?
If only to drive Pat CRAZY!
