My wife and I will be vacationing in the Outer Banks in mid September. I plan on operating out of our house but space from my equipment in the car is at a premium. I use a Kenwood 590 TS with hand mike and dipole antenna. I currently use a 50 amp astron p/s that came with the radio. I need something a lot smaller that can handle 25 amp. I hate to go on the internet to buy used and would prefer something new that would not break my budget. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks and 73, Jeff KA8ZAW

I've been happy with the Samlex switching supply. Small, no heat, no noise RF or otherwise. SEC-1235M I think its called.

I bought an Alinco DM-330MVT, but the Samlex was a close runner-up.

If you like your Astron, they make a compact 25-amp switching suppy:

If that's too much for your budget -- look at the similar, but lower-priced MFJ-4125:
We've used those at Field Day.

I have two of these. The first one has been in continuous duty for 12 years. I cleaned a dirty "PRESET" switch recently. Other than that it has only needed routine dusting.

The tiny sized Alinco DM-430T is nice looking, powerful, cool and silent!
I've got one for my summer qth and loved it!

I'll second the Samlex SEC-1223. I use one with my TS-590SG (same supply was used with the TS-590S before it), and have used the same supply for over 15 years on various rigs. Small, simple, dependable and rugged, and not expensive.
