WB2JKJ is or was a teacher at JHS 22 on the lower east side of Manhattan. I know this to be a fact because I spent one whole school day visiting his classroom where I met dozens of seventh grade students in JKJ's classes.

There was a VERY well equipped ham station in the classroom and I know that students who got licenses but could not afford gear were provided with ham gear to use at home. Most students were in that situation as the area surrounding JHS22 was not what one would consider "moneyed."

My visit there was in early 1993 and I cannot say anything about the years since. But in 1993 at least, the "22 Crew" was real and on the air.

WA3TJO, there must be a club near you or perhaps at least hams who have responsibilities that keep them from buying decent gear. I commend and thank you, on behalf of ham radio, for your efforts.

I have no doubt that the station existed at one point or another. That is not in dispute at all.

I also know that fairclough was a teacher at JHS22.

The operative word is was. I don't know if anything exists today.
