As my mother once told me, refrain from discussing religion and politics.  I think she was right.

Fred, nothing personal intended in my flippant replies on this thread.  Or, ever, for that matter.  Just my choice of words can be too pointed and perhaps taken wrongly.  And, I may not read your postings carefully enough.  I'll try to do a more careful job of that in the future to make sure I have your point in clear focus.  Politics, which I freely admit I succumbed to in BPL, doesn't help any technical exchange.  For sure.

I did reenter the discussion quite late, but, admittedly, primarily because Chip and some others had some heavy exchanges that needed some "R-I-T."  And, I enjoy finding loopholes in his tidbits.  Kinda fun.  PhD astrophysics grads don't know everything.  Perhaps, the moon, the stars up above, and musical medlies to accompany same.  [IMG]

I'm sure there'll be topics in the future where we either will agree or disagree on points of view.  I'll try to, like I said, use more care in my adjectives, nouns and adverbs in response to your postings.

I did and do, BTW, wish you well in your PM responsibilities and honestly meant what I said about the Golden Hammer award.  Although, from what I've been able to Google as of late, I'm not sure its still offered.  When I was a government contractor employee, it was quite a coveted achievement.

I've been trying to ascribe your motivation to higher and more intellectually demanding causes, but the best I can see is that your are simply...

    jealous.

Maybe Fred can comment on a music tidbit if he wants.

Well, of course, not radio telescopes, which are large antennas meant to observe the non-visible spectrum. I meant the optical variety, of course. Used by astronomers, whether amateur, professional, retired or reinvented. [IMG]

What a difference a day makes. Maybe it was, in FACT, in your mid or late '40s or early '50s that you left BU. I think you claim to still be in your early fifties, and you've been gone quite some time, according to my recollection of your posted vittae.

Getting important facts straight, such as the difference between the Golden Hammer Award and the Golden Fleece Award, before one wrongly acuses someone else of intending harm is by far a more significant error. One that you should have, by now, admitted.

So, you do, now, use 'scopes designed for daylight operation. Do they require a quarter to operate (to see the distant attraction) or are they the types one can quickly set up to observe distant human events and displays?

I've had some time to think this through, and the only conclusion I can come up with is that you are a troll, or an idiot. It takes a lot to have me come to that opinion.

Sorry Lee; I just don't think you ARE worth the time any longer.

    Best of luck.

Hilarious. If I were to be jealous of someone else or their achievements, I would pick someone like Bell or Edison.

Nope. Just like to set the record straight, when its appropriate.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, I suppose. But, I would have to say that others, myself included, would agree that your description of me is more accurately; a description of you.......

    See you again.

Chip, you need to look in a mirror and then tell us what you see. Wait a minute........don't bother as we already know the type of person you are. You are, Chip, not worthy of our time anymore.

Oh by the way, 2002 - 1955 = 47, so it's not the early 40's, but it was close enough.

By the way, is fractals your only achievement? (Not intended as a dig, just curious)

    Best of luck(?)

A troll or idiot, good question.

Is it possible to (stay in school and) learn more and more about less and less until you know absolutely everything about nothing? If so then the idiot applies, if not then he's really a troll and isn't happy until his name is on everyones' lips, good or bad.

When I look into the mirror I see that Suitsat is a mission failure.

My major acheivement is looking into the mirror. So, no; not the only one by a long shot.

Funny. If I am not particularly paying attention, when I look in the mirror I see my Dad.

He was about my age when I was born. He died in 1983 at the age of 87.

My Dad and Brahms were bald together.  [IMG]

Sounds like he was a good man.

Yup. And he had Sons. Dick was Phi Beta Kappa at Michigan, later to become VP of engineering at Chrysler. John was an award recipient from NASA for his efforts developing Mariner 10 while at Boeing.

And me. The only survivor. The youngster. Math degree. One time concert pianist (unpaid).

I have kept up with all postings in this thread all the way through prior to any deletion and I stand my ground and do not retract my original statement. He has shown positivity lately, until the point where someone like you decides to relentlessly pick, and for what is your aim... to ask him to be more polite, or is there some other motivation?

Is that your aim? To shoot holes through other's opinions to make yourself feel a bit better? Have you managed to actually prove any of his information wrong?

I personally disagree. At least when he differs from another opinion he will respond without outright malice.

It would be very easy to accuse anyone in his position of doing nothing than being at school simply because you do not know him that well. I do not know him very well either, so I'll safely assume that he has a life outside of being at school. You know what argument you intended on starting by that statement.
