Hungary gets new 50 MHz and 7 MHz allocations

The Govt. decree on the National Table of Frequency Allocations (FNFT) and the Decree of the minister of informatics and communications on the rules of the use of frequency bands (RAT) were published in the Official Gazette on March 21st.

No confirmation is needed from the Communications Authority. We can use the new frequencies from March 29.

The new ministry decree on the radio amateur service will expectedly come out in April. It will abolish the Morse code requirement and consequently aligns itself with the CEPT license and exam regulations end will introduce an entry level license category. That is, there will be 3 license categories: entry, CEPT Novice and CEPT. The RAT reflects
the present license system, which will soon be obsolete and will be amended by a paragraph in the radio amateur decree.

    Some further details:

    * In the present license system the permitted output power in the 7100 - 7200 kHz segment is 150 W for the HF Class B licensees and 250 W for the HF Class C licensees. The segment is on secondary basis, shared use.

    * In the present license system the 50 - 52 MHz segment can be used by all Class B and C licensees.

    * The new ministry decree on the radio amateur service will put an end to the tradition of assigning HG prefixes to the VHF licenses and HA prefixes to the HF licenses. There have been exceptions so far as well, mostly for contest call signs. The valid call signs remain intact and cannot be withdrawn, unless the license expires and is not renewed in time.

    * The usage conditions of both bands will follow the IARU Region 1 band plan recommendations.
