It's not your fault... something was eliminated at ARRL... like their P1K server supporting LOTW interface to HRD (that's what I'm thinking) I've experienced the very same issue, as well as several other HRD v5 users. I gave up and eliminated LOTW from my HRD (free) release. Also changed QRZ to indicate I DO NOT use LOTW. eQSL works just fine, and is far less trouble in my humble opinion.

That's interesting, there is a fix for the HRD V5 issue. I did it and now HRD V5 works fine and got fed up with eqsl in the meantime and unsubscribed. I don't collect awards anyhow. Never messed with the qrz log. Yeah, things change, it's too bad the old HRD is hard coded to the old lotw p1k server but a fix works.

At first apologize my english but I hope it wil be understandable.
I also use HRD v5 free and LOTW problem is frustracing also for me.
I checking where is the problem and I describe what I found.
Uploading and Downloading is not working on my WIN7/64 also on WIN-XP (I trying this 2 OS). ARRL probably change something on web formular because for login and for uploading and also for downloading is working fine when I use webbrowser. Maybe some certificates or changed web formular names of login and password items or something else (I dont know what). LOTW feature is on HRD hardcoded so it is impossible for me something change at this time so I find another lowest pain solution for me because I dont want to stop using LOTW so at this time I using this metod :

    For uploading :
    1. Normal select QSOs what I want to upload to LOTW
    2. I click to LOTW upload icon
    3. Click to Upload icon on HRD - LOTW upload window (like when it works) but after this dont close LOTW upload window in HRD because program delete temporary created TQ8 file which is temporary saved at this time on HDD.
    4. I login to LOTW with webbrowser and on main menu I click to upload button. (Previously I created shortcut for this folder C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp on Win7/64 OS) I open this folder and drag and drop file temporary created by HRD with extension TQ8 (for example LOTWUpload 2020-05-01 173233.TQ8) to File to Upload BOX on ARRL webside
    5. Clicking on ARRL Webside to upload file button
    6. Close LOTW upload window on HRD (after this HRD automaticly delete temporary file so next time when you will be uploading you havent got milion of TF8 files on temp folder)

    For Downloading
    1. Login to LOTW website
    2. On main menu click to Yours QSOs
    3. Left menu click to Download Report
    4. Set on Show QSLs received since right date like on calendar on HRD
    5. Click to Download Report
    6. lotwreport.adi will be saved on your HD
    7. On HRD click to Import/LOTW and select this file

I know It is not so confortable like clicking to icon LOTW upload or LOTW download but it is only one solution at this time what is usable for me. I will be happy if someone find better solution and write here how to do it. I think Simon will be able to change it in main code of HRD v5 program but I am afraid licence of HRD prohibite to him any changes but maybe on free version not.

    Good luck 73

Modify the 'hosts' file in your W7/8/10 computer found in 'C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts'. With notepad in administrative mode, add this line to the end of the file. '' without quotes. Save or replace the 'hosts' file. Reboot computer, re-type in your login and password in the upload window. Now use HRDlog V5 upload in the normal way. You may have to play with administrative rights to save the file.
I'm going to play with an .exe editor and see if I can modify the V5 HRD to change that p1k to lotw. That's what arrl did, they changed their server name from p1k to lotw and as you know it's hard coded into HRD V5. Don't know if it's hackable.

    Thanks for that!
I had the same issues, I went almost nuts!!!:mad::mad:
Adding the IP seems to fix it. I wonder why DNS is not resolving their URL? o_O

I've been uploading QSOs in HRD to LOTW for years without issue. I recently purchased a new computer system and had to re-install/configure everything. I received a new callsign certificate from LOTW and activated it in TQSL. From what I can tell, it looks just like it did before I changed over. I just tried to upload 20+ new QSOs in HRD Logbook and received the following error:

    Error = TQSL Version 2.5.3 (v2.5.3)
    Error =
Error = Error: Station Location does not match QSO details
Error = The Station Location 'US County' has value 'Saint Charles' while QSO has 'St. Charles' on line 24

I checked the station location information in my station location in TQSL for NA4DX and it shows St. Charles for the county.
I checked the station location information in my HRD Logbook setup and it shows St. Charles for the county.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks, Larry

    David N3DT,

I have the hosts edit done. I still cannot download anything. Every time I download, I get an empty file (0 of 0 LOTW entries matched.). Are you able to download and get updates of confirmed QSO's?

Had a similar thing happen to me. The newest rev of TQSL matches everything against the log information. (didn't do that before)
Check all the location information in your TQSL certificate. The error says the problem is there.
