Chris: answered your post in the other thread.
Thanks. Problem solved.
TQSL had incorrect grid locator for me.
Not sure how that happened......Hmmmm
Stuck with same issue. Not grid square for me.
In my case, HRD passes the log to TQSL for signing, and the proper TQ8 file is created. The problem seems to occur at the point where the signed log needs to get uploaded to LoTW. That's where I have the same messages in my log regarding HTTP redirect. This happens on both uploads and downloads.
However, since the TQ8 is created, I can take that file, go to the LoTW website, and upload that file manually. It processes after a few minutes. I can also download a report from the website and import it into HRD. It's a lot of extra steps to get the job done, but it works. Would love to find a solution to make it as automated as it used to be.
Edit/Update: Working after reboot.
Before reboot, I did the hostfile trick from the previous message, but it still didn't work for upload or download.
After reboot, I left the hostfile as is, and tried again. Upload and download are working now. I don't know what was different between before and after reboot.
If you don't reboot after changing the host file, it won't take effect, you need to reboot, my understanding.
The hosts file edit worked for me for a brief time. Now it is not working again. When I download, I get zero files. Does anyone else have this issue? If not have you discovered another work around?
I am beginning to think that ARRL is intentionally working to make HRD free version stop working. HRD v5 is the only logging program that has the p1k.arrl.org hard coded in. And it is the only logging program that is having ongoing issues. When I emailed them for help, they told me I should buy the supported version. I am very disappointed with ARRL right now. I fell like they are lacking any concern for the fact that they are making changes that affect their user base. I am guessing that there are a very large number of HRD v5 users out there that they are messing with.
I have a paid license for AC Log from N3FJP. I would switch over to it, but I am not overjoyed with the lack of ability to control my rig from there. I have also tried DX Commander but I think it is way over complicated and lacks the simplicity of use of HRD v5. But I may try it again if all else fails. I flatly refuse to pay the fees that the guys at HRD are charging, especially when it is an ongoing fee that you must pay annually.
You only need to pay the maintenance fee if you are interested in new features and support directly from hrd. Bug fixes are available to anyone and support is still best on the user forums so you can just catch it on sale and forgo the new feature updates. I suspect the new features will become alacart at some point.
Mine has been working fine, I just used it yesterday. I just tried it now, 9:30am eastern, and it seemed to work, but the 3 entries are not yet in lotw. At least upload, I never download. If they show up or not, I'll report. In the meantime, I would check the hosts fine again to make sure the addition is still there. I had a w10 update this morning and I notice every time I get an update, some things change, like my 'sounds' preferences. Wouldn't surprise me MS 'fixes' things for us.
I remember back a long time ago in DOS, there was a program that would read .exe files and edit them, and also undelete. I wonder if something like that could be used to get into the HRD V5 .exe and re-write that hard coded name?
My uploaded entries finally showed up in lotw.
