"80 bucks" for a software that was developed for free ?

What is happening with you ?
Profit for FREE resources doing by us ... FREE PROGRAMMERS !

What happens with people that **really do** the things ?

    Not only **COPY** others work...
( Remember the 80's with that CP/M and **you know who**... )

    Bad news boys...
In the future HRD will be on "SourceForge"...
But ... paid by PayPal (hi)

    Bone (PP5VX)
Some of you thinks that "free" is without cash...
Same case with Samuel Morse vs Alfred Vail !
    Who creates **really** CW ?
I am a professional programmer for the past 35 years.
    ( and I am PROUD of it ... )

I downloaded the latest version and my log book entries were gone....period. I had to go into my computer and back date it to a date that was good and everything worked, then leave it alone.

Has anyone else had this problem? At the new price, I won't be bother with this again..promise you that.

Open source, come on coders you know you can do better under the GNU/GPL. Hell we need a Linux version anyway.

    Dave

That shouldnt have happened. No one else has reported lost logbook entries.

Did you uninstall and reinstall? If so, thats why, you uninstalled your old logbook. You can install 5.11 over the old version.

I'm quite confused about the licensing.
Ham Radio DeLuxe is a piece of software, DM780 and Logbook are two addons for Ham Radio DeLuxe.
DM780 is based on various OPEN source and/or Freeware software.
    My question is:

    - Is HRD Software LCC licensed to resell something which is provided for free?

Only the modes are open source and they are in a DLL. That DLL is open source and will remain open source. It is GPL

And yes, this is for the suite of products.

Yaaa! They fixed the multiple linefeed problem in RTTY (still has one, but only one). I can use HRD in RTTY contests now without being embarrassed.

I would have paid $60 for that fix alone.

Are the libraries GPL or LGPL? I think that makes a big difference.

I wish you guys well and I'm not a licensing expert but I think you might be walking on thin ice if your closed source product uses GPL code.

I have been using NBEMS/FLDIGI with great success almost since it's inception. It's truly free and truly open source with the code available for download on the www.w1hkj.com site. NBEMS has some fantastic message form feature that are invaluable for NTS traffic handling and emergency communications. The NBEMS/FLMSG application allows us to send and receive form-based messages on a single to many transmission with the ability for unlimited receiving stations, from a single uninterrupted transmission (no ack/nak) and the receiving stations can all automatically verify if they received with 100% accuracy. Also, NBEMS applications are pretty light and don't bog down slower computers.

I am with Dave KB3FXI, HRD got too complex for me, a long time ago. I just like to use simple, easy to run software, being a field portable operator. FLDIGI serves me very well.......

I have used HRD for almost three years now - it's a great software package. I have yet to find anything that will rival it.

While I think $80 is a little steep, I will purchase the software. It's worth it.

Integrate JT65 as part of DM780? I will be in line BEGGING to purchase it.
