About eight years ago, I moved to a town about 50 miles from where I was living. I had my address updated with the FCC, and it was updated on QRZ. For some reason, my residence county did not update. I have noticed this with a lot of people who moved from one county to another. I just renewed my license, a couple of months early. The update appeared on QRZ today but my county of residence is still showing as my previous home's county. How do I update that? Is there a way QRZ could cause automatic updates of counties when someone moves and changes address with the FCC?
This is not part of the data updated automatically by the FCC. Go to https://www.qrz.com/edit/KV4BL, choose Update the Basic Callsign Data, find the section just below the green highlighted (FCC only) data and look for the option to change your county. Make sure you save the changes at the bottom of the page before moving on. Also, if you use QRZ logbook you will need to update the county in the logbook settings as well.
I just looked at this, because I was curious. I went to edit my home page and saw exactly what @KX0DW said.
@KV4BL to extend what @KX0DW said, the lat/lon and gridsquare are also not updated with the address change from the FCC (they don't provide any of that). Thus, you might also want to be sure your gridsquare is correct for your new location. That's found for your bio in the map, location and coordinate settings, and in the logbook under logbook settings -> logbook properties. And yes, for anyone else reading along: We could use geocoding to figure those things out, but we don't and probably never will. County should be accurate for county hunting purposes, but many hams have mailing addresses that are not in the county where they operate. Many hams also don't want the map pointing right to their front door, or again, be operating from somewhere other than where their mailing address points. 73, Steve KF8KI
VERY HELPFUL !! I just realized my old Taylors, SC address was showing up on my "QSL" lookbook ! BAD !!! I've been in the western N.C. area for over 3 years !
