Sorry gotta go.....have to answer nature's call. (The second part is optional). I usually just say: "Gotta go. Nice chatting with you. XX0YYY / ZL1UZM clear after your final.
I am not much of a ragchewer, but when I do engage in an interesting chat on SSB or PSK it is indeed usually QSB that ends it.
Usually i'll go qrt whenever we've ran out of things to talk about. Example: r r r "call" de KF5RBR fb on the wx . ill say 73 es tnx fer the gud qso hpe to talk agn 73 73 btu "call" de KF5RBR sk dit dit or cul om 73 es gn btu "call" de KF5RBR k
waiting for someone that knows me to catch the irony in that Some QSO go for hours, some for minutes. Knowing the difference is the art of conversation. Occasionally the dog does need to go out and I'll either tie it off or ask if the station will be around in a few. When I do have to go I simply gtg and sign. If it is a conversation I want to continue another time I make the effort to record likely freq and time before leaving. I'm rarely abrupt unless it's obvious I don't care for a repeat engagement. Not being a paper chaser or contester I lean more toward a good conversation outside of a local rag chew. Local, that's relative also. from here in the PNW (CN87tm) local can be into NV. It's just a case of the propagation.
