Spent the day digging through many boxes and piles of old parts to homebrew a quarter kilowatt A.M.transmitter for 160, 80, and 40M. Plate modulated with individual power supplies, and using a Collins 310C as the VFO. This may take a while, but always wanted to do it. A good winter project? Jon
Checked into the Noontime net today on 40 meters 7283.5. Talked to Wayne KK7TT in St. George Utah and Jimmy, W6FHZ in Reno Nevada. Always great to hear them and other friends on the air.
Well, I'm working on an experiment. I'm constructing a 1/2 wave 40 meter dipole antenna out of beer cans. Since I still don't have enough cans, I spent the day drinking beer.
Got the rack cab cut down and the supply installed and mounted on the movers dolly. I originally built it to run my ART-13 but decided to make all the supplies variable so I could run "anything". So at about 120 pounds, I'm not going to be lifting it often.
I Installed a 80/160m OCF dipole that barely tunes on 80 or 160 but works on every other band - guess it doesn't like the way its routed up, down, left, right and around trees I spent some time playing in the WAE contest but conditions were not great
Checked into the YL system tonight on 40 meters, 7245.0. Lots of noise on the band but Reno Nevada was booming in here. That it for tonight, now just wasting time on the zed, how exciting...
They're great neighbors those two. I've been so busy with Summer I don't get the chance to radio like I want.
