Today I finished repairing and tuning the radio.

Regarding the adjustment. My wife began to swear that she had a headache from the squeak of 1 kHz and I decided to make a load with switching from an improvised material.

The most difficult thing remains - to restore the case ...

I was a bit lazy today, some 40m, some 10m FT-8 and then folded up.

At least great to just slow down the pace of life with.

I spend an absolutely miserable two days trying to get CWSkimmer, NaP3, a virtual port generator and N4PY's control pgm to all play nice together. After banging my head for the past 24 hours I finally have some success. CWSkimmer is generating a local telnet server which is displaying callsigns of stations I can copy on the NaP3 display screen. Rig is a vintage TenTec Omni VI, but it works, regardless of the chewing gum and bailing wires.

First day of Maritime Mobile operation from the Adriatic Sea.

CW QSOs on 20m with 10-15W TX power and sub-optimal 20m delta loop antenna.

Attempts for SSB - did not make it.

Tried FT8, the system cannot manage long callsign with /MM suffix, does not send grid.

But this is great fun, doing both of my favorite hobbies together :D

I was referring to the radio enclosure. It lost some decorative elements, including the carrying handle (

This is amazing! One of the few things I really want to do before I die is sailing. I have read tons of books about yachting around the world. I was even going this year for a small sailing with a group in the Mediterranean, but problems with logistics and time. Chose a motorcycle and mountains of Romania)
But next year it will be a priority ..

So did you drive by Romanian DN7C road? Overseas readers could recognize it with old British TV show called Top Gear (pretty much like season 14 episode 01) while Europeans have to try this road by themselves. This road is not really hard to drive so it won't be really challenging for a beginner but experienced driver will be happy with almost any car, nor necessarily a 'sport car'. Amateur radio communications there are not as good due mountainous relief. Whatever, one could try NVIS-like mode from the car.

The full report is here. As I expected, the pace would be so high that there would be no time for radio. I was right.

Incredible journey! I traveled there a lot but with only VHF/UHF mobile in my car. I used the radio to talk to locals mostly in traffic jams in big cities.
