After setting up an antenna I did run a number of FT8 QSOs.
Around Ten PM last night, decided to turn on the radio...14.252Mhz...heard LY5A taking calls, got into the fray and logged a contact with Jonas in Lithuania. Cool Beans...
That’s nifty. Talked to Cape Verde islands, but not Africa proper. To date I like phone as it’s nice to hear someone’s voice Versus computer contact. But that is today. Tomorrow is another story, right?
And for anyone interested I have now made a description of how the antenna I used is built in this thread:
I have a few African nations in the log, SSB, CW and Digital. I just go where the action is and make the contacts.
I upgraded to General this evening.
Now with a General ticket, a paid off house, and some health issues... I am officially C.O.T.A. - cranky on the air.
How many box tops does it take to get a C.O.T.A. number?
Does C.O.T.A. mean Cats On The Air? One needs more boxes themselves than box tops.
