To be honest, this "event" is not a big thing here either. I've never heard of it before even though this is its 3rd year.

You're aware of it. You made the locals aware of it via your question to that forum. Get on the air and see if you can drum up some contacts during the event. :)

I'm debating if I want to participate from home or out in the field (on a summit for example).

    Well said :)
That is exactly what I will do - and what I do when I go out. I climb on a hill, CQ on the calling channel or SOTA channel. Sometimes works, sometimes not, in the second case I try to contact a repeater to find someone I can talk.

The more we do this, the more fun we have.

J-Pole antenna for the 2-meter band. I just used what I found in the garage / basement. Not for beauty contest...

The sliding connectors are coming from a terminal block, they made the tuning really easy.

It was a 60-minute project. I will start with this as base antenna in the attic.

Tomorrow I will install the LMR-400 feedline, so finally I will be able to work on VHF (later UHF?) from my shack in the garage.

And I have the HB9CV and the Slim Jim for portable operation, this is enough for the time being :)

    But I love making antennas...
