After 5 years, I finally got around to replacing the backlight in my Yaesu FT-1000MP MKV with an LED replacement from AA3M. Works fine. James WD5GWY
Yeah i was thinking about that. Or as a roofing filter in a dual conversion. Don't really do AM though.
I've got a new toy: Chinese built N7DDC tuner. Sorry, no fun photos except one from the seller. I really wonder what are the silver fish capacitors so I have to open my one to see by myself. Meanwhile tried it on 160m and on 40m with a piece of wire that is too short for the top band and close to halfwave on forty. Kenwood's built-in tuner tuned this wire flawlessly; Icom's did not.
I was outside cleaning up an old 6 element 10 mtr antenna when a old friend turned up. He gave me a old KW VICEROY transmitter and power supply.
With some help from the kind and patient folks in the homebrew forum, I've figured out what was up with my homebrew transmitter. After replacing some capacitors so my low pass filter can handle the power level, I'm getting a stable 15W!
