Unfortunately, no contacts in CW were had, only FM on 2m. Better luck next time!
I spent this weekend in Colorado on a SOTA vacation! I was able to activate 7 peaks. I am a VHF only activator (SOTA) 2m FM and 6m FM/SSB CQs answered no problem.
On three of those peaks I set up my FT818 with a 6m endfed and tried for my first ever 6m CW QSO.
Hike up Rogers Peak CO
Rogers Peak @13,400’
I struck out 3x 6m CW but I still had a blast. It was a incredible experience!
I made a few dozen SKCC WES contacts and worked a few POTA CW ops. Not much free time this weekend.
today at abt 11:30z I called CQ on 17m.
Band seemed not to be open, at least I heard no signals here.
Got only skimmed by RNB from MM0ZBH TF4X UA4M RK3TD, all stations from Europe.
But a station from North Carolina answered!
Signal was very low but sufficient to have a QSO.
"The bands are never open if noone calls CQ" - in this or another way heard often and seems true.
I built a dipole for 15m.Alu tubing.Garden hose isolation and muffler clamps and stuff. On the roof abt 35feet now.
1st one i hrd was a JA.Very weak, but called him with my 100w TS520 and immediatly he came back.
What a success,yesss!
In the afternoon there where 3 loud ones from new england and florida.
I called for a while but they might have bad qrm.My neck of the woods has zero qrm, nada.
So i do not expect to get an answer to all i hear
I was back out in the woods for POTA today. Two parks about 130 contacts and had a great day in the sun. Ham life is good! 73
Not to be a wet blanket but nothing,
I’ve only got a 40m ham stick dipole up 30 feet. I threw out multiple CQ’s on all the FIST and SKCC calling frequencies but it was like watching paint dry. 9db of noise
I may take up knitting.
something went wrong with your TRX, because no RNB Station received your calls.
Keep trying. Solar flares are the wet blanket, but they pass by in time.
