Just so we're all on the same page, the MD-380 programming cable itself does not contain a USB-to-serial chip. The USB chip is in the radio, so the radio has to be plugged in and turned on before Windoze shows you the device.
Thank you for that. I bought the TYT back in November 2016 and had the usual problem with the USB driver using Win 7 & 10. I decided I was going to give it another try tonight and came across this thread. I was starting to give up hope by the time I reached the fourth page and then I saw your solution. I found the correct driver and eureka, it worked. It runs on Windows 7 & as this PC is dual boot I'll give it a try on 10. I registered just to say thanks, but I'm sure there will be lots of other stuff here which will keep me interested 73's Pete
