I am going to build a rackmount adjustable universal supply with 0 to 1000 volts, 0 to 500 volts, 0 to -200 volts plus 12-0-12 vac and 12vdc
metered for voltage. Or as close to that as I can get.
All choke input supplies with variac's.
I have the Cheyenne, the 32s-1 and the G76 to power with it.
All low power stuff, so 120 volt.
I should have most of what I need.

    Ok, got it.

I might need some matching meters, I have two 0-15v vdc which can be 0-150 volts and 0-1500 volts, one 0-600 vdc.
0-250 or eve 0-500 volt would be better for the bias supply.
I might also get a nice Hammond choke or two, to match the one I have.
I ordered a 6 amp 12 vct transformer from Mouser but its back ordered.
I have a nice power transformer that gives about 565 volts choke input that will do the jub with full wave bridge choke input.

If I scrap this supply I get one more choke, a bias supply or low voltage transformer and the high voltage transformer.
It gives -190 volts, 300 volts regulated and 500 to 600 volts.
I forget what I built it for but it has no real use now...

A lot of the parts can be re used....

Hit me up, I have hundreds of panel meters.

I'm sure I can find some for you.

    Well, thanks!
I have sort of standardized on the old radio shack/Calectro meters.
Way back, Radio Shack sold them for $6.00 to $15.00 and I just re scaled them and made my own shunts and such.
Then I found Calectro makes the same kind in many scales, and they still often go for cheap on ebay.

    Nice rack Brett! ;)

I got those 3 from work, they had more but I was tired of moving them.
I have another type on the other side of the shack, and sold one with the PP 812 rig in it.
We scrapped all kinds and sizes. Before they went to the scrap people I posted free racks and no one wanted them.
I had some that were a little bit bigger then a globe king, 6 foot tall ones, and DX100 size ones, some with plexiglass doors.
I still have some rack mount shelves (steel).
Four racks and a desk and I still have half my stuff on storage shelves not in use..

over the summer I resurrected a Cheyenne so now I’m putting together a supply for it.

I’m copying the Heathkit UT-1 supply except I’m using an antek toroid that’s rated 300vac 0.66A.

There’s some space in the chassis so I want to use a small xfmr for another +LV and a variety of bias voltages.

Which of the two approaches shown in the attachment would be better ?

    Hi Brett:
I have a transformer for you; you should be able to get around 700 vdc @ 1 A without straining the iron. (and it is free)

Bruce, thanks but I have a good one:

It will get me to 850 volts which is plenty.

I started parts collection but will likely wait till winter to start building it.
