Yeah, a lot has changed over the years, and many--too many these days--would disagree with you, OM. But...well...I ain't gonna argue with one less car on the freaking Bayway during the summer. :D:D

We have the 146.82 repeater back on the air and it provides good coverage for this area--and is also favored by many ops in the nearby Florida counties. :)

then I'd recommend you not come here. We tend to be very sociable here, and certainly don't need unfriendly folks with a tendency to ignorantly badmouth other people. (Based on one of your earlier comments, I'm guessing Oklahoma is also not for you. )

The Bayway, AKA that big concrete parking lot over the north end of Mobile Bay. ;)

Guys, my trip was a complete success. I used my BaoFeng BF-F8HP, 20' of Coax and my Slim Jim strung up in front of the house. Right off the bat, I made contacts in Foley on their tower. Thanks Pat & Tom! They got me hooked up with the Baldwin County Amateur Radio Club and Monday night Net at 7:00 pm local time on 147.090 (+ 600 and 82.5 Hz. tone). What a great bunch they were! Thank you KN0TNT for letting me join in.

Simplex 52 was very active also.

I didn't have enough power or antenna height to reach Mobile Alabama, but there was still plenty to keep me busy.

This is a list of repeaters in the area on the East side of the bay.

    29.66 118.8 R Foley WB4GMQ
    145.430 123.0 R Bay Minette KD4HYG
    146.685 R Foley KI4ELU
    146.895 110.9 R Foley KG4LWF
    146.895 110.9 R Orange Beach KG4LWP
    147.090 R Robertsdale K4RAW
    147.390 118.8 R Loxley WB4GMQ
    224.86 118.8 R Loxley WB4GMQ
    224.94 R Seminole KM4HP
    443.200 118.8 R Loxley WB4GMQ
    443.650 118.8 R Loxley WB4GMQ
    444.375 203.5 R Bay Minette WB4TJO

Thanks again guys for helping me out.

And...the 146.820 on the WALA TV tower on the eastern shore. And which is one of the repeaters over there with the best coverage if I do say so meself. :)
