    Hello All,
The Ametueur Radio Community has lost a great Freind. Our friend Harold, W2HR of Grants Pass Oregon has passed.
My personal experience with Harold was certainly one to remember forever. Harold was an ol tough guy when needed but was always super compassionate, and dedicated to his family and friends. He was a good ol godly man and truly one of a kind. Please pray for his family during this terribly painful time.

    Harold E King, W2HR SK

Harold Eugene King, 89, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Auburn, California. Born on October 28, 1935, in Monmouth, Illinois, Harold lived a life marked by curiosity, craftsmanship, and service.

As a student of Chenoa High School Harold played the baritone in both the concert and marching bands and contributed to the school newspaper. His early fascination with electronics led him to build his own television–an impressive achievement that foreshadowed a lifelong passion for innovation.
Harold began his career by taking over his grandfather's appliance repair shop. Over the years, he worked in construction and held positions as an underwater welder and worked for Citizens Utilities and SMUD. He also ran his own business specializing in television sales and repairs, combining technical skill with an entrepreneurial drive.

Deeply committed to community service, Harold was active in the Elks Lodge, the FreeMasons and the Shriners. A proud milestone came when he was inducted as Potentate in Kentucky–an honor he had long sought. Even after his term, he continued to serve by transporting children to Shriner's hospitals for care. His dedication left a lasting impact on many families.

Harold's personal interest reflected his vibrant spirit. He loved boating and water sports and enjoyed grilling, another passion of his, for family and friends. A licensed ham radio operator, he delighted in connecting with others across the airwaves. His enthusiasm for electronics endured throughout his life.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Miranda Hall and her husband Rick Hall; grandchildren Lacie Hall, Brandon Hall, Michael King (and his wife Chris), Jennifer Simonis (and her husband Jake), and Melissa King; great-granddaughters Merced Simonis and Felicia Simonis; sister Ruth Byrd; and brother Philip King.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris King; sons Ric and Rusty King; daughter Bambi King; father Earl King and mother Reva King.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
