I just configed hamclock on a rpi and want to see it on my hp w1907 monitor.
The native resolution of the monitor is 1440x900, which i found out is the max resolution of the monitor.

do i have to go down to 800x480??? to get something i can see on a full screen?
    Dont know next step
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Per the web site your resolution is not supported and so you are limited to 800x480.

You certainly may change the resolution. The directions are given in the desktop installation guide. https://www.clearskyinstitute.com/ham/HamClock/

I am curious as to how one can magically(*) use a resolution beyond that the monitor will not support.

(*) Yeah, yeah, some older monitors in VGA mode can kind of interpolate for modes not supported but usually even then only for lower resolutions. And some will cut off the rest of the image. But neither will really do what the OP is looking for.

While 1440 x 900 is native and the MAX resolution of his monitor, one of the listed options will more than likely be compatible and work better than 800 x 480. It's certainly worth a try.

    Go to https://www.clearskyinstitute.com/ham/HamClock/.

Scroll down and click on the FAQ tab, then look down and read the "What is xrandr, or How do I get rid of the full-screen black border."

That will help you display to a size other than the preset choices in the hamclock make file.
