Well, I have decided to start a thread where I can vent my spleen on stuff that bothers me. Feel free to contribute, or not. It's good to air things out on occasion.
Coils Yes, I'm fed up with coils. Not inductors, mind you, but coils of wire or of coax. Heck, include coils of extension cords, rope or hose. They are all a pain to deal with. They look so neat when obtained, and maybe a half hour later, when you finally untangle and unknot the things, and stop emitting profanities, do you actually get to use them. Recently I made a new antenna installation. Only 40 feet of coax from the roof to the shack. Now, how long should it take to uncoil 40 feet of coax. A half hour seems excessive to me. Same with 50 feet of 12 GA wire, used for a counterpoise on this particular antenna design. Another half hour of untangling and unknotting. Grrrrr. I think it was Nostradamus (or someone like him) back in the 14th century (or some century back then) that noted "if a man must uncoileth his coax, then surely he will spendth a near eternity to do so."
