HAM radio smartphone! Android with VHF or UHF

Bring 'em on! This has been presented as a way to the HT of the future - that the HT function would just become another app on another device. Different apps for all the different digital modes as well as analog could be created.

We're an iPhone family now, but I'm on Ting so it only costs me $6 to add another phone. I might have to think about this in the near future. It could reduce the count of electronic devices I need when I travel. I wish it had programming software.

 

This is way cool. Thanks for showing and sharing. Looks like a rugged little rig. The only feature I would change in the design would be perhaps a collapsible antenna of some sort that integrates into the unit and can be pulled up for radio use. If I wasn't an iPhone guy now, I would have to have one of these.

Android v4.4? That's KitKat, which is three OS versions behind the current one (Nougat). Just an FYI.

I did a search and could only find UHF model. Is there a specific model number for VHF?
