Wow, the guy asked a simple question about the legality of something and the thread turns into a religious war lol. Never change, 'Zed.

I believe that the ARRL had to apply and go thru a whole rulemaking process to allow for certain exemptions pertaining to the rules defining broadcasting on ham radio. This is why one way transmission of code practice, informational news pertinent to amateur radio and the retransmission of certain space communications such as the space shuttle have been permitted. One requirement for ARRL bulletins is that the broadcasts must be be published in advance giving notification of the operation time and frequency. I am sure that in the case of Newsline, this is usually be broadcast during the course of repeater club nets, where it is knowledge of the activity to occur on the repeater. At least that is my basic understanding of how these broadcasts are permissible and its not any type of grey area as some suggest. I would hope that when it comes to operating rules regs and practice that black and white prevails and few instances of grey area exists. Especially regarding the ARRL.
Now viewing all this banter about politics and religion its an obvious example why in fact that it is considered poor taste to voice such discussions within mixed guests. IT JUST PLAIN IS INPOLITE. For those that find it so necessary to make such great debates regardless of which side of fanaticism you pleasure,,, there are far more proper places to voice your points than on the ham bands. It is the goodwill friendships and exposure to different cultures that I find greatest value on the INTERNATIONAL ham bands. I have very little interest in religious fanaticism and especially political fanaticism. However there is seldom any way to legislate , regulate or enforce rudeness or poor taste. Luckily, my radios are no longer rockbound but have VFO operation and it works well for now. Final thought, I have nothing against God,I just think that he has very poor PR!

I suspect some of those who simply advocate spinning the dial and citing a provision for free speech may take a different view or be lesss relaxed if the subject matter were the Quran and not the Bible.

Signals do not recognise borders and there is more than one country in the world.

OK, perhaps saying that the public doesn't have access was the wrong phrase. I should have said the general public rarely owns a radio that can receive on Amateur frequencies.

This is obviously the general public in the year 2018 listening to Amateur Radio frequencies...

Them old console radios were pretty cool. Funny thing is, they are still around. Some things never get old. :)

Cool. Do you plan on restoring it? Only problem with those old radios is finding replacement tubes.

All the tubes are there, lights work but the caps are all shot. As you can see it needs replacement veneer in some places. I have the missing wooden knob, it just doesn't stay attached on the radio very well. Thought about restoring it, but i'm probably just going to end up giving it away. Too many other radio projects on the bench and I need the space.

I'm guessing the tight wads are all on holiday and the inmates are running the asylum. This will cease once someone comes back from their beach/mountain/casino/airplane/drug fueled binge trip. In other words, IB4TL
