I would guess two years ago this coming November, when my book came out. I keep in touch with him Here is the video link, followed by a link to the book he wanted to talk with me about on his show. He learned storytelling by listening to Jean Shepherd; I actually taught storytelling with Jean at my college. https://amzn.to/4xiudNp
Hello. I’d like to let you know that the kits page was updated this Thursday, September 10, 2026. I’m sorry that the site page is still in HTTP — the site was built with a very old CMS. If you find an error or notice that I forgot to list a kit, please contact me. Thank you. 73 — Jose http://f8bdx.free.fr/les_transceivers_qrp_en_kit_044.htm
What a WONDERFUL project! THANK YOU! Big time thank you! Ahh...kin I call you if I build one an' it don' work? Har, har!
Although i appreciate building Radio Kits, i much rather buy a new plug and play Ham Radio delivered to my QTH, lol W6FRD.
Appreciate your thanks. Next up: accessory kits. Check out our youtube channel in case it doesn't appear here; https://www.youtube.com/@HamRadioPerspectives Mike invited me on his show when my book on the movie "A Christmas Story" came out. Mike was greatly influenced by the screenwriter's storytelling, and I actually taught with the storyteller, Jean Shepherd, a legendary ham who spoke at Dayton a few times. I should pitch Dayton on having me tell a ham story the way Jean would. Maybe someone can help with that? We taught storytelling together at least 3 times. I took extensive notes and used them for my bestselling book on https://link.amazon/B0bq5GOIk (about how Jean used stories in the movies as parables about real life. Mike Rowe heard about the book, apparently read it, and asked me to appear with him on his show (). I had 48 hours to get from Michigan to Santa Monica, CA, where he records. Meanwhile, I was doing all kinds of other interview. Mike is a splendid gentlemen in purpose with a very well-read background an a terrific sense of irony he picked up in part from Jean. Mike had never met Jean. Hope this helps. Fire me an email if you'd like to chat about it. 73, Quin, K8QS
I subscribe to the podcast version of Mike's show. Downloaded that episode yesterday and listened to most of it on my way home from a hamfest today. Fun stuff. As for Dayton Hamvention, come up with a topic and description for your proposed forum subject and start bugging the organizers. You may get stuck with a 9am Sunday time slot, but, as you know, you didn't become a big star in ham radio overnight.
Geez...they only offer 4 kits to build and who wants to pay $229.95 for a clock? They gotta be kidding! I think someone simply purchased Heathkit's name and aren't really serious about making good kits anymore....
