Night of the Living Dead Halloween Special Event Stations K2V and K2Q Celebrating the 57th anniversary of the movie. Board up your doors and windows, K2V and K2Q are coming back to life this Halloween. The skeleton crew of K2V will be haunting the Night of the Living Dead cemetery from October 25th through Halloween night, trying to claw our way into your logbook. On Halloween, K2Q will be lurking in a field near the farmhouse and bridge where the ghouls were looking for their next ghastly meal. Don't hide in the cellar, have some fun, look for us to raise your spirits this Halloween. They're coming to get you, Barbra.
K2V will operate only from a station that is located at the cemetery, and K2Q will operate only from a field that is near the farmhouse and bridge. Both locations are near Evans City, Pennsylvania, and they were the actual filming locations of the original 1968 "Night of the Living Dead" movie. The map pointers on the "Detail" tab on each callsign's QRZ page is the exact location of the stations.
The only one of which I'm aware would be the Georgia staton for "13 Colonies", but that's not until next Summer.
Now that the contest weekend is over, we will be active on 20 and 40M. Look for K2V spots on the cluster.

K2V has always operated on phone only. If you worked K2V during our special event on CW or digital modes, that was a pirate, it was not us.
God willing, I might apply for a SES callsign for next year as my city, Derry City, Nth Ireland holds the biggest Halloween event in Europe. It runs for a week with a massive fireworks display at 8pm on the 31st subject to WX conditions. People from all over the world attend which is mind boggling given our location.. IO65ia.
That sounds like a great idea, maybe it would inspire the activation of even more Halloween special event stations. K2V did work W0W in Frankenstein, Missouri, and 2 of the "Ghost Towns on the Air" stations, but we missed GB0NES.
I saw W0W spotted but it was way past the gray line here. I've sent Ofcom here an email asking if i could get a permanent SES callsign so i'll wait and see the crack about it. 73
